Overview of the SLK Therapy Framework
The Speech and Language Kids (SLK) Therapy Framework is a structured, research-backed approach designed to simplify therapy planning and implementation. Unlike traditional therapy models that rely on fragmented, one-off activities, the SLK Framework provides a clear, step-by-step system that ensures consistency, effectiveness, and measurable progress for speech-language pathologists (SLPs), caregivers, and educators.
How It Works
The SLK Therapy Framework is built on Therapy Pathways, which categorize communication challenges into specific skill areas. Each pathway is divided into Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced levels, allowing therapy to be tailored to the individual's current skill set. The process follows five simple steps:
Use the Screening Checklists – The child's team (SLPs, caregivers, educators) collaboratively fills out screening checklists to determine areas of need.
Determine the Therapy Pathway – The results of the screening guide the team to the appropriate pathway based on the child’s specific challenges.
Choose the Skill Level – Select Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced within the pathway using more in-depth Progress Monitoring Checklists.
Use Therapy Plan Modules – Implement structured, step-by-step therapy guides within the chosen pathway.
Follow the Plan and Track Progress – Use the Progress Monitoring Checklists to ensure consistent implementation and measure improvement.
Each Therapy Plan Module is designed to be a comprehensive start-to-finish guide, reducing therapy prep time while ensuring best practices are followed. Can I get ASHA CEUs for these courses?
Unfortunately, we are not an ASHA-approved CEU provider anymore. The ASHA CEU program is not set up to be manageable for small businesses with small teams. For that reason, we have chosen to spend our efforts on brining you amazing content instead.
No, you cannot get ASHA CEU credit but you CAN use this course for Professional Development Hours (PDH). ASHA will let you use PDH courses to count for all 30 hours of your professional development requirements. You simply need to keep track of them yourself instead of us submitting them to ASHA for you. We will give you a certificate of completion that you can save in case you get audited. (For that matter, did you know that you can use your school inservices and other informal trainings for your ASHA hours?)

State licensing boards and other countries may have different requirements for your professional development hours and may require a certain number of your hours to be ASHA-approved CEUs. If that is the case, then our courses will not count for that. Check with your licensing board or organization to find out whether they will accept our courses.
